ACI Foundation Scholarships & Fellowships 2022-2023

Building the Future is the motto of ACI Foundation. Therefore, to achieve this, they have established the ACI Foundation Scholarships & fellowships to help high potential students in concrete-related graduate and undergraduate degree programs.

The ACI Foundation gives between $5,000-$15,000 per annum to recipients to cover the cost of tuition, travel, residence, books, and materials.

This scholarship or fellowship is fully-funded for international students.

The ACI Foundation is a not-forā€profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Foundation supports a wide range of research and educational initiatives that contribute to keeping the concrete industry at the forefront of technological advances in material composition, design, and construction.

Scholarship Coverage

We now want to look at the benefits and amounts that recipients of this scholarship receives when selected. The amount varies under each type of scholarship or fellowship — that is graduate, undergraduate etc.

Fellowship recipients will receive the following:

  • $10,000 – $15,000 USD educational stipend for tuition, residence, books, and materials;
  • Appropriate recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the Foundation website;
  • Paid travel expenses and attendance fees to two ACI conventions (fellowship finalists must attend the Spring ACI Convention to be interviewed where they have the option of being assigned a Convention Guide); and
  • Assistance in finding an industry mentor.

However, ACI Foundation Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarship recipients will receive the following:

  • $5,000 educational stipend for tuition, residence, books, and materials; and
  • Appropriate recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the Foundation website.

Eligibility Criteria for ACI Foundation Scholarship

You must meet the following requirements if you want to win the ACI Foundation Scholarship:

  • Required Language: English. A written statement must be attached to the application attesting your profiency if English is not your native language.
  • Eligible Countries: All world countries.
    • ACI Foundation fellowships can be awarded to international students; however, you must attend an institution of higher education in the Gulf Cooperation Council region (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates), Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, or Tunisia.
  • Those applicants chosen as a finalist for an ACI Foundation fellowship must be available to attend an interview with the Scholarship Council on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the spring ACI Concrete Convention. ACI Foundation will pay for the flight, hotel, registration, and will include a travel stipend. You must apply and receive a Visa from your country to attend the ACI Concrete Convention.
  • All applicants must be proficient in the English language. If English is not your native language, a written statement must be attached to the application attesting this proficiency or a copy of the TOEFL results.
  • The educational stipend is paid in two equal installments over the course of one year directly to the student to cover expenses related to tuition, room and board, books, student fees, etc. Receipt of stipends is contingent upon attendance at scheduled ACI Concrete Conventions during the award cycle.
  • Fellowship awardees are expected to submit a written report near the end of their fellowship period describing the value of the fellowship to their personal development and to their preparation for their chosen career after graduation.
  • To be eligible for an award, you must be a full-time student for the entire award/school term (fall semester 2022 through spring semester 2023).
  • All applicants must submit the following five items.
    • 1. Applicant’s contact and educational information.
    • 2. A resume – Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Acrobat Adobe (.pdf) format
    • 3. A 500-word essay.
    • 4. Official transcripts – English language & with a 4.0 grading scale
    • 5. Two endorsements

  • All application materials, including endorsements and transcripts, must be received by the application deadline. All materials are to be submitted online. No hard copies will be accepted, except for official transcripts which may be mailed.

Awardees will be determined during the ACI Concrete Convention in the spring and notified shortly after the convention.

  • ACI Foundation fellowships can be awarded to international students; however, you must attend a U.S. or Canadian institution during the award cycle.
  • Some of the fellowships expect the awardee to complete a 10- to 12-week internship during the summer of 2022.
  • Those applicants chosen as a finalist for an ACI Foundation fellowship will be notified by February 4, 2022 and must be available to attend an interview with the Scholarship Council on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the spring ACI Concrete Convention. ACI Foundation will pay for the flight, hotel, registration, and will include a travel stipend.
  • All applicants must be proficient in the English language. If English is not your native language, you can upload a copy of your TOEFL score to your application. This is optional and not required.
  • The educational stipend is paid in two equal instalments over the course of one year directly to the student to cover expenses related to tuition, room and board, books, student fees, etc. Receipt of stipends is contingent upon attendance at scheduled ACI Concrete Conventions during the award cycle.

How to get ACI Scholarship?

To get the ACI Scholarship, you must meet all the listed eligibility criteria. You must be a full-time student in a master’s or PhD program during the entire award cycle. You must not have exceeded your second year of a master’s program or fourth year of a PhD to apply.
